I am so excited to be a part of the review tour for Next Year in Havana, by Chanel Cleeton! I meant to post this earlier in the day, but the day got a little away from me. This book is so beautiful, and I feel privileged to have received an early copy to read and review! Don’t forget to check out the giveaway at the end of the post!
This book shattered me. But then it put me back together.
There is something about Ashley Herring Blake’s writing that always hits me where I need it to. I always seem to pick up her books at exactly the right time. This one was no exception. Because, without going into it, this book hit really close to home.Read More »
Before I begin – I wasn’t sure I wanted to review this book at all. I read it, I ruminated on it, and then I started seeing some stuff online. It made me realize that I’m not the audience that will be most affected by this book. I’m not the audience that could be hurt by it. So this is a warning, before you go any further. The content of this book could trigger people, and I wouldn’t want that for anyone. So I did some assessing of my Want to Read shelf on Goodreads and came up with a decent list of ten books I know I’ve wanted to read for a really long time. Since around the time I graduated college, at least. So that’s what we’re working with today!Read More »
What a month! Between reading challenges and the Cybils and finally hearing that I got my dream job (!!), January 2018 was one for the books. And the reading I got done! Oh man, I did some good reading. Let’s recap, shall we?
A note, before I remind y’all of the rating system – I can’t talk about the books that I read for the Cybils yet, and two of them are in this recap. So what I’m going to do is say a one sentence summary of what those books are about, and that’s it! I’ll be writing full reviews eventually, but it’s not going to happen until summer, at the earliest. Huzzah!
A reminder of my super classy rating system (puppies!):
